*One of the type 2 Diabetes risk factors is bone fractures. Recent research by scientists at UC Berkeley, UC San Francisco and UC Davis suggest it is because the bones are less flexible. Their research in animals indicated the diabetic rats studied had changes to the network of collagen fibers reducing the elastic and tensile strength in the bones.
Diabetes makes bones less bendable, more prone to fracture.
